"Don't let where you came from dictate who you are, but let it be part of who you become."
My name is Robert Renteria and I am the author of "From the Barrio to the Board Room," my memoir which traces my life from a childhood of poverty and abuse in one of the poorest areas of East Los Angeles, to my proud emergence as a business owner today.
"From the Barrio to the Board Room" is my way of reaching out to all the people I can't meet personally. It's smart, practical self-help advice wrapped up in the exciting and inspiring, sometimes funny, and always gripping story. Only someone who actually came from the streets, someone who knows the specific obstacles that they face, can show them how to clear their path. There's nothing that any American - Latino or otherwise - can't accomplish through persistence, hard work, heart and soul.
Hey Robert... I admire your passion. Where we are from contributes greatly to who we become yet the choices we make determines who we are.
Keep up the good work. Lets connect the next time you are in LA.
Awsome Book! Thanks for letting us share in your sorrows and successes! Your story is very inspiring and I can only hope that our Latino youth read your book cover to cover and become inspired to go for their dreams! Keep up the great work and stay true to your upbringing!
Hi Robert, I visited your book's website. I've been thinking about publishing a lot lately...I am an avid reader and would love the chance to eventually help writers share their stories. Thanks for adding me as a friend. I hope to pick up a copy of your book soon (I have a stack of new ones at home already, but I should be through them in no time at all). Take care!
Hi Robert, thank you for the friend request. I was looking at your profile and am very impressed with your background. I always enjoy hearing about people like yourself. I will read your book and will like to attend one of your events.
