The PBS program, “To the Contrary with Bonnie Erbe” (the only woman-owned news analysis program on national television) is pleased to honor the contributions of all small business owners for National Small Business Week, which falls this year in late May. Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has proclaimed National Small
Business Week to recognize the contributions of small businesses to the economic well-being of America.

These contributions are especially important in this tough economy, as America struggles to rise out of a deep recession. Studies have shown small businesses generate many more jobs than America’s largest corporations. To the Contrary covers all issues affecting women, children and communities of color. As such, its coverage includes a focus on the work of Hispanic nonprofit wealth-building organization, NALCAB, or the National Association for Latino Community Assets builders.

NALCAB member organizations, Latino Economic Development Corporation of DC, Latino Economic Development Center of MN & Mission Economic Development Agency, are training Latinas in the critical skills needed to transition from hourly wage workers to business owners. Too little positive media attention is given to the incredible work of this organization and others like it, so To the Contrary has stepped in to fill that void. READ FULL STORY
