Chief Development Officer: Full Time Job Description : Exciting, executive-level development opportunity with well-established international humanitarian organization/foundation! This is a newly-created position offering a rare opportunity to shape the future of the department and carry out a four-year strategic development plan. Some international travel is required, and diplomacy is a must. Ideal candidates will have progressive experience in development at the strategic level, including successful change management with staff and volunteers, a background in international fundraising through affiliate partners, and experience with multi-million dollar campaigns. Salary: $90K-$98K Responsibilities: Oversees all aspects of Foundation development programs, from donor cultivation to recognition. Formulates and implements strategies and framework that will maximize and increase Foundation's donation revenue using a variety of fundraising methods. Serves as primary liaison for development to Foundation's Board of Trustees, advisory committees and volunteer structure. - Manages the operations of four departments by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards and resolving operational problems. - Sets direction and manages all aspects of strategies for Foundation development and fundraising. - Analyzes costs and benefits of alternative projects and chooses those that fit Foundation objectives. - Participates on formal committees such as Development Oversight Committee and Executive Committee. Also participates with other Foundation advisory committees. - Responds to member issues related to Foundation development, including but not limited to, donations, donor relations, processing, and recognition. - Recommends and implements department plans and goals and monitors progress. Responsible for annual $1 million department budget and manages expenses within established guidelines. - Manages six employees including recruitment, work assignments, development and performance management. In the first 1-3 years, this position will be responsible for the implementation of a reorganization which will likely include developing new positions and hiring staff to fill said positions. - Performs other responsibilities as assigned. Job Requirements : - Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in association/nonprofit management, business, social services or related field; Master's degree preferred. - Minimum 8 or more years professional fundraising/development experience with progressive increased responsibilities. - Minimum of 4 to 6 years of management experience.
