4 Latina journalists to be honored at luncheon

Four Valley journalists will be honored Wednesday for their work at the Latinas in Business and Professions Business Lunch and Achievement Program.The work of the Visalia Times-Delta's Melinda Morales, Univision's Lupita Lomeli, ABC Channel 30's Graciela Moreno and Alex Delgado from KSEE Channel 24 will be celebrated at the program.The four women were chosen because of their longtime commitment to the media, said Lali Moheno,

Latinas in Business and Professions' chairwoman."There are so many Latinas and other women of color in the media," she said. "But I work with these women all the time, and they are very accountable to the city of Visalia and the county. They've acheived so much — and they're very positive."The honorees: Melinda Morales is a feature writer for the Times-Delta and the editor of Tulare County Magazine. Her reporting has been honored numerous times, most recently by the California Newspaper Publishers Association in April forher coverage of the economic development efforts of the city of Visalia.

Lupita Lomeli is the anchor of "Arriba Valle Central" on Univision's Fresno affiliate Channel 21. Since 1991, her program has worked to bring local news and community conversation to a Spanish-speaking audience. Graciela Moreno is an anchorwoman for ABC Channel 30's evening news programs and the producer and host of "Latino Life." She has received three Emmy Awards for her reporting. READ MORE
