Unfortunately, this population is affected by our health system’s shortcomings in vast and unique ways, and they are diverse in ways most do not understand. 1. Shifting Demographics

In total, Latinos currently make up 17% of the total population – or about 54 million people living in the U.S. This percentage, according to Pew Research Center estimates, is expected to increase to almost 30% by 2050.
