Bill Brady, Republican Candidate for Governor, spent the day meeting with leaders in Chicago’s Latino community today to talk about the issues that matter most to Illinois’ Hispanic residents.Brady began the day Tuesday at El Valor, a non‐Profit organization with an emphasis on educating children with special needs and providing vocational and leadership training for adults. Brady spoke with El Valor’s leadership team, board members and students at the school’s Carlos Cantu Center in the Lawndale neighborhood about the need to reform education in Illinois by offering parent’s greater choice in where their child goes to school.

“Giving choice to parents means offering better academic excellence and academic opportunities. The state’s charter school pilot program has worked very well, in some cases, offering students a fifty percent better chance of graduation from high school,” said Brady. “El Valor is an extremely impressive facility.

”Brady also visited with the National Latino Education Institute, a nationally accredited career education organization that provides adults with industry‐driven skills training and various job placement programs to succeed professionally and advance economically. Board, Employers and the Executive team of NLEI shared the importance of education, job growth and job sustainability for our state’s economy.

“Centers like these are important for the growth of Illinois,” said Brady. “NLEI has demonstrated the ability to help adults get the skills they need to be self‐sufficient and successful.

”Brady concluded the day by meeting with business professionals from various Latino Chambers of Commerce throughout Chicago. The group shared their concerns about the current business climate in the state and the challenges that they face. Brady talked about his experience as a business owner, the need to improve the job climate in Illinois and his plans for restoring economic vitality and leveling the playing field for businesses of all sizes in the state.

“As a businessperson, I know how to retool a business to keep it competitive and will bring that experience to state government,” said Brady. “To make Illinois work again, I will create a business climate that encourages companies to both invest in creating new opportunity in Illinois and maintain existing employment for Illinois workers.

”Bill Brady (R‐Bloomington) is a small business owner who has represented his community as state Senator since 2002. He is running for governor to bring a clean break to Illinois and build a job‐growing environment. More information can be found at www.bradyforillinois.com
