Hispanic Americans represent 17.6 percent of the present U.S. population, or about 56.6 million people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, people of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central-American or other Spanish culture or origin are projected to comprise 28.6 percent of the U.S. population by the year 2060, or about 119 million individuals.
