Margoth Reyes said she knew from an early age that she wanted to help people, especially those near where she grew up in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood. The Texas native, 31, said she struggled as a child but always wanted a better future than what she saw around her.
"I'm not out on the streets, I'm not a drug dealer or a gangbanger or anything," Reyes said. "I never wanted that. I've seen other people and I said, 'That's never going to be me.'"
