United Healthcare reaches out to Colorado Latinos

United Healthcare has launched a new group of health plans in Colorado as part of an effort to reach out to
Latinos and get them involved in their health care. The package of plans, called PlanBien, was fully introduced to Colorado in March. PlanBien also is available in Florida, Texas, California, Illinois, New Mexico and Arizona, though the plans are slightly different in each markeT.

In Colorado, PlanBien plans are offered through a partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Denver to businesses with two to 99 employees. "Colorado has a very significant Hispanic population. If they grew
up to be young adults before they came to this country, their first experience with health care was with a different health care system than we have in the U.S.," said Russel A. Bennett, vice president of Latino solutions for United Healthcare.

Bennett said he believes that if people are more educated about how to use their insurance, they will be more likely to take advantage of their coverage, and their health will improve. "It's really an example of Colorado leading the effort to reach our Latino community, which is such a growing and vibrant population here," said Jeff Campos, president and chief executive of the Hispanic chamber.
