Karen Richman is a scholar on Haitian Vodou religion and its migration to the U.S. She will present a lecture defining Vodou as a religion and practice deeply rooted in Haitian arts, culture and history. Following Richman's presentation there will be a Q&A session and book signing (for purchase at event, book comes with a CD) of "Migration and Vodou".

Richman is a professor at the University of Notre Dame where she instructs courses in LatinX, Latin American and Caribbean studies and is the author of "Migration and Vodou" (New Diasporas Series of the University Press of Florida, 2005). She is Director of Undergraduate Studies at Notre Dame's Institute of Latino Studies and a board member of Chicago's first Haitian American Museum (HAMOC), a center for cultural and educational programming, located in the Uptown neighborhood.
