Hispanics add $14.5B into region, study says

The first study to measure the economic impact of Southeast Michigan's Hispanic community finds that Hispanics contribute $14.5 billion to the regional economy and support more than 180,000 jobs. The study, released Thursday at the annual Hispanic Business Expo and Economic Summit at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, shows Hispanics as an "incredibly vital economic cog" in Southeast Michigan, said Fred Feliciano, president of the Hispanic Business Alliance. "I'm very excited about it," said Belda Garza, a project manager in Metro Detroit who attended the expo.
